The OSSP public researcher
profile enables academic researchers to maintain an openly-accessible
resume/bibliography, and build a peer network that encourages
interdisciplinary collaboration
By enabling academic researchers to
maintain public profiles, we seek to (a) provide researchers with a
central platform where they - irrespective of their field of study or
institutional affiliation - may maintain a professional profile
that will follow them as they transition between degree programs,
departments, and institutions.
In addition, through enabling
researchers to build networks by linking their profiles with those of
their advisors, mentors, colleagues, and students; we seek also to (b)
encourage researchers to build relationships with larger groups of their
peers and to utilize these relationships by actively seeking out and
engaging in collaborative research across disciplines and institutions.
When a researcher completes their
registration process, they will be taken to their homepage where they
may create and begin managing their public profile.
Currently OSSP public researcher
profiles allow researchers to enter the following information:
-
Contact details (e.g. phone
number, postal/street address, email, homepage link)
-
Internships/graduate student
positions available within the researcher's lab(s)
-
Research/non-research interests
-
Professional/academic background
- including degrees earned, positions held, and awards received
In addition, depending upon the
subscription level selected, researchers can also manage their
publication data by linking their profiles with their
publications/abstracts.
