PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release

May 04, 2010

05.04.2010 – WEST BLOOMFIELD, Michigan (May 04, 2010) - The Open Source Science Project, Inc. (theopensourcescienceproject.com) is proud to announce its partnership with the USA Science & Engineering Festival (usasciencefestival.org), the country's first national science festival.  The event will take place in Washington, D.C. beginning on October 10th, 2010, and culminating in a two-day expo on the National Mall to be held on October 23-24, 2010.

As an organization which believes strongly in the innovative potential of students and young researchers, The Open Source Science Project strongly supports the USA Science & Engineering Festival to inspire today's students to become tomorrow's scientists and engineers.  "By providing students the opportunity to see how the information they are fed in the classroom can be applied in solving real-world problems; the festival promises to inspire many young minds to consider their classroom lessons as more than simply test-material, but as introductions to the tools that will enable them to confront and solve the problems that we all will face in the years to come," said Priyan D. Weerappuli, executive director of The Open Source Science Project.

The Open Source Science Project works collaboratively with partners worldwide to create and support innovative and inspiring opportunities for young researchers to actively engage their curiosity and conduct self-initiated research.  The USA Science & Engineering Festival promises to be an exciting event that will energize students and the broader public around the important role that science and engineering has today, and will continue to have in the years to come.
