The OSSP
publication management tools enable researchers to link their
public profiles to their scholarly publications, and to create/manage
public bibliographies
In developing our
publication management tools, we sought to enable OSSP
researchers to perform three tasks: (1) submit publications and abstracts
to our central research publication database, (2) link these abstracts and
citations to public researcher profiles, and (3) increase the visibility and
accessibility of research publications, and the relationship between
research collaborators, through a
visually-appealing user interface.
To achieve these ends, we developed
an intuitively-structured publication management platform where
researchers may upload publication data, and have it
visualized as the sample publication appears at right. Each
researcher who contributes to a given publication may add it to their
profile by clicking on the "Add it to your profile" link
displayed below the publication abstract.
Each researcher who
adds a particular publication to their profile will have the publication
(citation) appear in their public bibliography; and will have their profile
picture appear below the publication abstract (as displayed at right).
To increase the ease with
which researchers may identify and link publications to their
researcher profiles, we have established partnerships
with academic publishers, and have begun harvesting publication data from
these publishers for
our central database.
Thus far, our publication
database contains articles from the following
journal titles:
